Hector Gutierrez, MD

Hector Gutierrez, MD is a pediatric pulmonologist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also serves as Associate Director of the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center. He is the founder and Chief Medical Officer of Dream a Little Dream, Inc., and the Leader and Principal Investigator of the International Cystic Fibrosis Training Network (ICFTN) — a role that reflects his longstanding commitment to advancing CF care on a global scale.

Dr. Gutierrez brings exceptional depth of expertise in healthcare delivery and quality improvement, with formal training from some of the most respected institutions in the field, including Intermountain Healthcare, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Practice, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

His academic work centers on quality improvement, outcomes measurement, and the implementation and optimization of both clinical and non-clinical processes. As the owner of the intellectual property behind the ICFTN REDCap Registry, Dr. Gutierrez has been a key architect of its development, working alongside an expert IT team to build a powerful data infrastructure for the CF community.
